| I thought the series was worth an "excellent" grade; but the ending was so totally inconsistent with everything introduced in the rest of the show that I have to rate it one grade lower.
I understand that the Japanese have different story telling techniques than we do; which accounts for many anime shows having endings that are unsatisfying from a Western point of view. While I might not like such ending very much, it's never before affected my enjoyment of a series until now.
The ending for Gilgamesh was so idiotic that it ruined the show for me, because it completely disregarded everything that had happened up to that point. |

| My lower rating in comparison to the series is because the 'Death' part is simply a near incoherent rehash of the TV series, and the 'Rebirth' part is an incomplete version of the first half of the "End of Evangelion" movie. |

| Had I not seen the TV series, I would have rated this movie as GOOD intead of VERY GOOD. The new material was quite interesting and created what I thought to be a better story than the TV series; but the movie had a very rushed feeling.
I believe that had the altered story from the movie been used in the series, it would have made an already great series even better. |
