Very moody, melancholic, and criticized for having a plot that moves at roughly the pace suggested by the title. I enjoyed this, it had good characterization and production values, but ultimately it's just one more on the "required viewing" list for anime classics, and as far as those go it's nothing outstanding. |

The amount of time I've spent rewatching this actually suggests it may be a candidate for masterpiece level, for me. In any case, Baccano! is a really fantastic show, brilliantly executed and strikingly unique in the anime world. I have yet to tire of watching and recommending this show, and the dub was really excellent. |

Colorful, boisterous, and ultimately trying to juggle too many things at once and not entirely succeeding. This was fun to watch precisely because it is unabashedly kitschy, but it never really went beyond that, though it seemed to be trying. |

Despite never having finished the second season, I must say the first was really great stuff. This is one of those nostalgic Toonami anime that reminds me of how great Cartoon Network used to be (and by turns how much of a shithole it is now). |

Black Lagoon fits snugly into one of my favorite story categories, which I've come to refer to as "A Bunch of Guys on a Boat". See also Cowboy Bebop and Firefly, but generally this encompasses very character driven plot, with a subtle story undercurrent. The extreme black and gray morality of the show also makes it a lot of fun (if occasionally brutal) to watch. And episode 7, "Calm Down Two Men", contains one of my favorite dialogues in any story ever, it's just brilliantly executed and extremely moving. So yeah, this one's at the top of my stack. |

I have to admit this one made a better impression on me dubbed; the whole Tokyo Arc became unintentionally hilarious in Japanese, since Toyoguchi Megumi, bless her heart, sucks at English. This really killed the moment for me in a lot of cases, or at the very least I couldn't take it seriously anymore. But even without that, this particular set of stories didn't move me in the same way the first season did. Which still means it's pretty excellent, but I couldn't award it a 10/10 anymore. |

Strong start, plodding middle, some cool stuff towards the end and then a rather lackluster finale. At least in my opinion. There was a lot about Blood+ that I really liked, it was very stylish, had great production values, usually avoided cliche and didn't pull its punches (holy crap Riku). But not always, and sometimes it just got rather muddled. And the ending, while not necessarily bad, felt like a waste of good potential to me. |

This is one of the most amazing anime I've ever seen, the production is just exquisite, the music is gorgeous, and I love the story. Individually ranked, some of these movies are less impressive than others, but as a complete whole (and especially with such monumental entries as Paradox Spiral), it's peerless in the current market. This may not be a series for everyone, but it's definitely a series for me. |
