Manga creator Kouji Seo is announcing in this year's 11th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine on Wednesday that he will resume his Half & Half series. The series will return in the June issue of Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine on May 9.
Half & Half follows Yuki and Shinichi, who die at the same time when Yuki tries to commit suicide. They find themselves in the world on the border between life and death, where mysterious divine message tells them that one of them may live again, and they have a week to decide. They both begin to think, "If you died, I could live…."
The announcement accompanies the final chapter of Seo's A Town Where You Live (Kimi no Iru Machi) and the first chapter of his new series Fūka. The original Half & Half Manga ONE-shot was Seo's debut work in a manga magazine (Kodansha's Magazine Fresh) in 1996. He then turned the story into a full series in 2012. The first volume of the series shipped in Japan in August.
In addition to Gonzo's television anime adaptation that aired last year, A Town Where You Live manga also inspired four original video anime volumes, including one that will adapt the manga's final chapter. Del Rey published Seo's previous work, Suzuka, North America and Funimation released the 26-episode anime adaptation.
