I did enjoy this season slightly more than the first, but that's probably mostly because of much lowered expectations. I had my hopes up for the first season, but not only did that turn out very underwhelming, but even more so considering we got the vastly superior Overtake! that very same season. The only reason I nevertheless watched this second season is that there's hardly any anime for us petrolheads to begin with, and it's not quite as awful as Highspeed Etoile.....
But this 2nd season indeed suffered from much of the same issues as the first. It starts at some random point and ends at some random point, and inbetween not that much happens. Still hardly any story, world building or character development. And still a severe lack of realism. And now that Kanata finally got that much needed power upgrade, they had to throw in some that fetched stuff just to prevent him from becoming too OP. I still have to watch Initial D, but I can totally see how just a setting in illegal street racing could solve quite a lot of the issues MFG has. |
