Deadman Wonderland Manga Gets DVD with Unaired Anime
posted on by Egan Loo
Kadokawa Shoten has announced that the 11th limited-edition volume of Jinsei Kataoka and Kazuma Kondou's Deadman Wonderland manga will bundle an original anime DVD this October. The DVD will contain a new, unaired episode that is about 25 minutes long. Both the manga volume and the DVD in the limited edition will have exclusive jacket cover illustrations. More details about the DVD will be provided with the ninth manga volume and the May issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine on March 26.
The story is set after the destruction of most of Tokyo by an earthquake, and it centers on Ganta Igarashi, a middle school student framed for the murder of his classmates. Igarashi is sentenced to Deadman Wonderland, a bizarre privatized prison that is one part incarceration and one part public spectacle for tourists.
The manga has 3 million copies in print, and its television anime adaptation will premiere on April 16. Tokyopop is publishing the manga in North America.
