Deadman Wonderland Manga Gets Anime Green-Lit (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
A retailers' solicitation sheet reports that an anime adaptation of Jinsei Kataoka and Kazuma Kondou's Deadman Wonderland manga has been green-lit. The story is set after the destruction of most of Tokyo by an earthquake and centers on Ganta Igarashi, a middle school student framed for the murder of his classmates. Igarashi is sentenced to Deadman Wonderland, a bizarre privatized prison that is one part incarceration and one part public spectacle for tourists.
The anime's official announcement will be made on a wraparound jacket band on the sixth compiled book volume when it ships on August 26. The manga has been running in Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine since 2007. Tokyopop lists the manga for a February 2010 launch in North America. In addition to creating Deadman Wonderland, Kataoka and Kondou adapted the Eureka Seven anime series in another manga series which Bandai Entertainment published in North America.
