Tadashi Agi and Shū Okimoto's Kami no Shizuku (Les Gouttes de Dieu or The Drops of God) wine manga will be getting a evening television drama adaptation this January. The story follows a young man who faces a challenge from his late wine critic father. To gain access to his inheritance, he must identify the 12 extremely unusual wines named in his father's will. The manga has been running in Kodansha's Morning magazine since 2004, and 2.2 million copies have been sold. 22-year-old Kazuya Kamenashi (live-action's Gokusen's Ryu Odagiri, Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo~Kyuuketsuki Densetsu Satsujin Jiken's Hajime Kindaichi) of the idol group Kat-tun will star as the title character, Shizuku Kanzaki.
This Japanese television drama is separate from another effort to adapt the manga in Korea. The Korean live-action drama project is tentatively slated for next fall or winter. The manga's popularity has spread overseas to South Korea, Taiwan, and France.
