Well that's a surprise. This show did only 3k or so if I'm not mistaken.

KyoAni does what they want to do.

Hell, do you think Munto selling bad stopped them from doing more? Hell no, they did a 2nd OVA and then a TV series.

Why do people always react this way? KyoAni makes whatever the hell they want. They were never overly concerned with making sales in the first place.

Nichijou did poorly.

They followed that up with Hyouka, which did decently.

Chuunibyou did great.

But Tamako Market bombed.

But instead of selling out, they gambled on Free! of all things.

And after that, the action-oriented show Kyokai no Kanata?

They make whatever they want. It's not a matter of money or appeal, but whether or not they enjoy what they're making. If Nichijou isn't proof enough, I don't know what is.

Thank you! Very Happy

Uh, ok. But Nichijou and Hyouka didn't get second seasons or movies unlike Chuunikoi which is getting both. They can make whatever they want but money plays a part too.

That's definitely surprising since I'd heard it hadn't done very well, but that's great! I liked Tamako Market.

Well, this is quite a surprise. I always figured there couple moments that are introduced throughout so I hope they take the time to really put some focus on a few of them like that little love triangle Tamako unknowingly has with Mochizou and Midori.

I'd imagine other factors came into play. Maybe some of their merchandise sold well to offset it. Or maybe the higher-ups liked working on the show and want to give it another shot.

1st: Nichijou and Hyouta were alreadt 26/24 episodes long.
2nd: Tamako may have sold poorly, but KA may still have made money from it, since it was their IP.

Of course they need money. But quoting directly from what Megiddo said:

There is a difference between "getting a 2nd season/movie/new project" and "a 2-cour show". Tamako Market is getting a new project. Nichijou and Hyouka were 2-cour shows.

So you don't think making a 26 episode show of X costs just as much as making two 13 episode seasons of X?
