Just got my Vol 1 LE in the mail today from Japan. I was wondering why the second volume wasn't on amazon.jp already...

Just air it on TV, it's not that hard. God, the DVD would probably even be out by then, depending on how late into summer it is. An OVA series should not take three-four years to complete.

That is a fairly inaccurate assumption when, in fact, several of them have historically taken that long or more. There's no such thing as a mandatory "one-size-fits-all" production length for OVA projects. Episodes can be released on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis. If you look at the anime industry as a whole, you'll find a variety of different examples.

It's also worth taking into consideration that it's not like the entire cast and crew have no other commitments and are only working on this single project right now. I can easily imagine at least some of the production staff share other responsibilities and need to split up in order to meet them. Needless to say, that probably causes scheduling conflicts during the upcoming Spring season.

There's also a possibility that the studio itself may not consider this project to be a priority either, which affects the timing and allocation of all kinds of specific resources in favor of different projects. In addition, this particular OVA is being shown in theaters first, before any physical release, which adds yet another variable to this scenario, since the project has to compete with the scheduling of plenty of other films and OVAs.

So you see, there are all kinds of factors in this equation. My personal view is that these delays certainly aren't admirable, but I much prefer to see a good result at the end of the day, no matter what, even if the production process takes longer than initially anticipated.

Aww. Was looking forward to it in the spring. I guess I'll have to look forward to it in the summer now! ^^;

Akito looks cool in the key visual. *__*

Bullshit. Seriously. It was supposed to be out like TODAY, and they delay it 6 MONTHS!?

Bullshit. I like Akito so far, but seriously, this is just testing my bloody patience. And it's not like the series has a super-high budget - other than the CG mechs, its quality is everything we've seen before in Rebellion.

So yeah. Bullshit.

The only thing intended for release this month was the BD/DVD of the first episode, which has actually come out on time.

The delay is going from a previously announced date of "Spring 2013" to "Summer 2013" for the theatrical screenings of episode two. Which, to say the least, none of us outside of Japan would be able to see anyway.
