Media Blasters: If it resembles porn, we'll license it!

I want them to rescue Girls Bravo next.

Well, they sure are consistent with their product choices, aren't they?

Does Hatsukoi Limited have too little fanservice for you to license it, Media Blasters? Smile

HL has like, almost zero amount of fanservice. Ichigo 100% would be possible though.

More trash getting released via the outdated, overpriced single-volume model. After Queen's Blade though, I can't say that I'm surprised. Oh well, at least they're boxing their good shows also.

Hey, Media Blasters has finally announced something I'm a little interested in. It will be nice to give them some money, since all mine has been going to Sentai and Nozomi. Smile

No, not really. Remember, you have to spend money[1] to make money... but the amount of money[2] you can spend is limited. "opportunity cost". Companies essentially move; the phrase "strategic positioning" is almost painfully literal. Marketing [including licencing decisions] puts you somewhere, and you can only be in one place at once.

So it's a bit like chess; you want to be, not just in a "spot" that draws in money for the moment, but in a spot that'll stay good long-term, or offer other spots you could move to, or grow into.

Which isn't to say that Media Blasters' "if it looks like porn send it to us, japan!" line is a good place or a bad place to be, for long-term or short-term view; the point is, it is a place, and a simplistic "if it makes money for now we should do it!" analysis will lead you into trouble.

[1] Or something you can measure in money terms: it's an axiom of economics that you can measure everything in money terms, and it holds out fairly well real-life.

And Dokuro-chan.

I liked Kanokan and all, but I'm more interested in this news right here. Good thing I haven't gotten it yet. I wonder if S23 will go back and dub Clannad.....guess I should pull my head out of the clouds.
