I have to say this announcement struck me as a tad... peculiar. I've only seen the first two episodes of this series, but production values showcased within led me to think that this one getting licensed would be a longer shot than most. About the only thing I can say this show has going for it are its theme songs; I love MOSAIC.WAV, and Clover's "Poppin' Heart wa Hitotsu Dake" has gotta be one of the most infectious anime themes I've ever heard. But I wonder: was there evidence of any particular demand for this one?

Sometimes I really do wonder what Funimation is thinking when this company licenses shows.
Funimations biggest and greatest anime in the past was Dragon Ball and to this date, fans STILL enjoy this series. However, in present day, there hasn't been any series that really stand out from the others with the exception of both Samuari Seven and the funimaiton version of One Piece. |

I thought conventional wisdom was that mahou shoujo doesn't sell in America. I'm certainly not COMPLAINING, as I'm a mahou shoujo fangirl and am already considering buying this without ever having seen an episode or read any of the manga, but I'm surprised.
So, Funimation, while you're licensing magical girls--Geneon had a license for a little show called Magical Lyrical Girl Nanoha . . . |

Many of us over at AnimeOnDVD.com feel that this license might be part of a batch license deal with Marvelous Entertianment, i.e. FUNimation wanted a certain show and Marvelous gave them another title or two to go with it. Certainly would make sense for this title.
Either that or Marvelous let FUNimation license a number of titles as one giant batch (since FUNi has done many Marvelous titles before) and FUNi, for some reason, decided to give this one a go. Either way, if this gets Ring ni Kakero 1 (another Marvelous title) even closer to getting licensed then I'm happy. |

On the FUNimation site, there's an article about a kid from Make-A-Wish visting the studios and observing production on "a series of titles we have yet to announce".
So this could have been part of a batch license deal, like Lord Geo said. Here's the link to the article: http://www.funimation.com/f_index.cfm?page=news&id=431 |

Sometimes I really do wonder why you have such a bias against shojo anime. Now, I don't mean to be rude, and hell, I haven't even seen this show-- but I would reccomend you stop being so narrowminded towards anime you probably haven't even seen. How about you judge a show by it's merits than it's genre? |

This is... odd.
From the first few episode of the anime, the animation... wasn't that good at all. Was it even popular in Japan? Perhaps it's in a bundle like you guys are talking about. |

This is one I'll be buying for sure, yay for boxsets! I watched the first two episodes back in 06 and the girly part of me loved it.

Considering how much it looks like they spent on producing it, it would be a crime if it were. |

Although I don't totally agree what he said earlier, it IS a strange choice. I usually expect Funi to license shows that are at least moderately popular (i.e. on the internet). Like Ouran and Darker than Black, no surprise that Funi would pick those up. It's just an "interesting" choice. |

Apparently the manga has sold a lot of copies over here... Perhaps we now have a shot at getting the Madotte! Mamotte! Lollipop manga over here? (The sequel to the mamotte! lollipop manga, for those who didn't know/care)

No disagreements there; I'm not too familiar with this anime either. But as I said, I think it'd be wise to give things a chance. And no disrespect (as I think my original post might've come across angrier than intended), Teriyaki Terrier, but I just found your post to be a little snobby. |
