I found out from another forum that a release date has been set for the first volume. It will be released on 3-14-06 and the box version will have a CD just like SEED did.

If you haven't seen GSD already, be warned that it starts out good, but sucks hard by the end. Good luck finding someone (who has seen the whole series) that has something good to say about the last 10 or so episodes.

Hell, it sucks hard by about fifteen episodes in. And then it gets progressively worse from there!

Anyway, this has no place in Talkback, as it's not in direct response to a front-page news item. Moving to the Anime forum.

However, some of us did like the show - maybe not as much as SEED in my case, but there are people out there who liked it and DVD's are selling like crazy in Japan so someone there must have liked it (that or there are a lot more completionists in Japan than here Laughing ) [BTW, I liked the show enough to buy it - I didn't think GSD was the worse anime I've ever seen by far]

BTW, what on earth just happened to the layout!!! Shocked

One minute I'm reading the old one and I click back and get a blinded by a red/yellow Fuccon's ones (this must have changed over at 11PM CT) Surprised.

Oh, I'm buying the DVDs. I still think the show sucks by the end though.

As for the layout, it's mentioned on the front page. It's part of some week-long promotion of a show.

I liked destiny a bit more once i had read some of the interveiws with the director and learned what he was trying to do. Who knows? Maybe it will turn to be a bigger hit in america than japan like cowboy bebop (although i HIGHLY doubt this, as cartoon network killed seed, not for its edits, but for putting it on at 1:30 in the morning). But I too have heard that Gundam Seed Destiny is coming in march, along with My HiME. What a great month that is going to be.

False rumor. "Gundam SEED Eternity" does not exist. The next Gundam series has not yet been revealed yet, and based on the most recent word, it will more than likely be a non-SEED series, at that.

As much as It pains me to admit it, Nagisa is right. Rumor of GSD came at a very questionable time (right before the last eps of gundam seed destiny). I would be elated if such a thing existed in the near future, and i suppose its absolutly possible due to the popularity of it in japan, but as of this moment, no such sequel has been officially announced for the C.E. saga.

I highly doubt it because pretty much everyone who has seen it fansubbed agrees that it sucked. Maybe it will attract the people who thought Wing was the greatest anime ever, but based on people who have seen it already, people (especially fans of SEED) are going to dislike it.

The early DVDs may sell well because people see the early episodes and think it's good, but I expect the later DVDs to do poorly, since the entire series will probably air on CN before all of the DVDs come out.

Some DVDs may sell because people buy it out of a feeling of obligation or principal. Either they are big Gundam or Gundam SEED fans, or they feel obligated because they saw the entire series fansubbed. I fit both categories and therefore will buy all of the DVDs.

I'm looking forward to My HiME much, much more than GSD.

IMO GSD may do well or it may not do well when it comes out in the US but using online fandom as a guide to how it will do is not always the best thing to follow. Just because fans who watched it online didn't like doesn't always correlate to how things pan out in the market place. A case in point IMO is s-CRY-d, which currently doing better than FMA in the Nielsen ratings at AdultSwim. I wouldn't have figured that show would do well at all, going by pre-online discussions of what people thought of it. So you never know how many shows will do until after they get a official release.

I don't know how to compare that, as i have not seen s-cry-ed. I consider FMA a masterpiece, so either s-cry-ed is relly good, or the raters have no idea what a good show is. The fact that it even rivals FMA makes me want to watch s-cry-ed...

I can't say how much, but I know a very large portion of people who watch anime on Adult Swim, (or anime in general for that matter) watch it solely for action and violence. Now I haven't seen S-CRY-ed, and haven't finished watching FMA, but it could very well be that the only reason its in front of FMA is because it has more action and violence. Just something to take into account.

Wow, me too Laughing (not that I've seen GSD or even plan on doing so as people say it's so horrible).

I have seen the whole serie of GSD and yes, the ending sucks but in the start the serie rocks. And when you get like 30 episodes in to the serie it start to suck. The GS serie was alot better couse the story and characters are more involed in the serie. In GSD its only clones clones clones and new gundams all the time. There are more fighting in GSD then GS and with fighting I mean show the same sceenes all over again, so the serie gets boring in the end but it rocks in the start. But I dont regret that I watched the serie, but I hope they make the 3rd serie alot better.

I enjoyed sCRYed a lot, however it's definitley no FMA. sCRYed doesn't delve into any sort of philosophy and it doesn't have any deep themes either, it's basically about the rivalry between 2 men who hate eachother but are the exact same instinctivley. It's not a deep show, but it's a fun and lively action one.

First of all a third series is only a rumor which to my knowledge is a false one. So I A. wouldn't expect a 3rd series set in C.E. at this point and B. given how Destiny turned out, I don't really want another C.E. series. Also as far as the fighting, yes you could say there was more but I wouldn't give the show credit for that seeing as how most of the battles were just repeated animation sequences mixed and matched.
