Wait, I'm confused about the Code Geass release. A 9-episode boxset with extras and an extra-less 9-episode boxset, makes sense. But two seperate volumes (one having 5 episodes and the other 4) being sold as well? What's the point in that? If a boxset is out already, everyone would just buy that, not seperate volumes. Did I miss something here?

Well, the idea behind that is ... people may just want to buy a single DVD volume at first, to see if they like the series (because it's cheaper than a 9 episode box set) ... or people may rather spend smaller amounts of money from time to time (singles) than buy three relatively expensive box sets.

True, but wouldn't the boxset be cheaper than the individual volumes combined? Personally, as a consumer, I'd just take the risk and buy the first boxset (the one without extras, mind you), but that's just me.

The latter movie is also getting a theatrical release, starting on July 18 in the ImaginAsian Theater in Los Angeles and New York, expanding to 40-45 venues around the country.

I guess they're hoping to clinch that Best Animated Film competition. Anyway, I figured Hayate would go to Viz, due to the Shogakukan connection. BTW, what is with people's inability to find out the status of Silent Mobius? Makes me think I'll have to do it myself.

lol.. Silent Mobius...

Where's the Zeta Gundam Movies?

But yeah, the Code Geass release probably has something to do with the licensing contract. I've heard that companies are forced to release single volumes before they can release box sets.

I was kinda hoping for someone other than Ocean to do Gundam 00's dub. I was left very unimpressed with how they handled Seed and Seed Destiny.

That can't be right, One Piece's first release (not counting the 8th movie) was a boxset, and Hunter x Hunter will be boxsets-only. I think it's just a marketing strategy like Josh said.

In addition to the two anime now confirmed for Blu-Ray release under the Honneamise label. Blu-Ray versions of Ghost in the Shell: Innocence and Sword of the Stranger are now in production.

so... does this mean the DVD version of Ghost in the Shell 2 is going to get the Honneamise $50 treatment as well? Or will it just be the Blu-Ray release that is stupidly expensive?

I must say that I'm very disappointed they're STILL doing T-shirts as 'limited' editions... I had the feeling Mai Otome Zwei would be coming with something a little more... special. A pencil board is nice, but then again Geneon used to give them away for free in the majority of their singles. AND to top it all, the new staff member at Bandai just said they have access to the Japanese materials and might be using them more, AND that they're not going to do T-shirts anymore o_O. I sincerely hope this is the last T-shirt, because I'm getting sick and tired of them.... If I want a damn T-shirt I'll go to a clothes shop.

I hope the T-shirt trend at Bandai ends here!

...uniquely, the Code Geass Sound Episode CD dubbed into English by the voice actors from the show's main cast.

Now that was interesting to read. I wonder what prompted the decision to do that? Not that I am complaining; I went ahead and preordered the limited edition version after reading that.

How, both One Piece and Hunter x Hunter are older than Code Geass, which may affect its price. With Geass being as lucrative and recent as it is, it's possible that the owners of the license wanted to get as much money as possible.

However, I think that this is Bandai's way of testing the water for boxsets. I'm sure it's more costly for them to sell in boxsets than in singles. If the sales of the boxsets don't sell as well as expected, then they don't have to follow that path, saving them some cash.

I don't care about Code Geas, but I'm pretty geeked about
Gundam 00 airing on Sci-Fi.

Was there any explanation given for why Gurren Lagann and Gundam 00 are airing on Sci-Fi instead of Cartoon Network? I'm guessing CN is done with Gundam after SEED, but GL seemed like a natural for the channel.

I'd rather it air on Sci-Fi, there'll be less edits that way.

Plus, both Cartoon Network and Adult Swim seem to be focusing less and less on anime, unfortunately. Sad

Doesn't really bother me where it airs, I'm just curious as to why they decided not to go the CN route.
The last Gundam show got buried with a 5AM slot on early Saturday mornings. I don't think I'd show another Gundam show on CN either.
