Is it better than the Anime or Worse? I know most Manga are better than their Anime Counterparts.

Hard to say. I've never seen the anime, but I have read the manga. The manga for the most part is a pretty good read of what I've read of it. It has a catchy story to it with some good action and some topics of interest. The author also draws his influences from One Piece. I would say it's worth checking it out.

That's a bad over-generalization, dude, you should avoid stuff like that.
As for Rave Master, I saw the anime and liked it, but it got tiresome after a while. It was as if you put a jRPG on screen after adding some humor to it. That is to say- if you're familiar with Squareenix and their ilk, pretty much every plot twist will be old hat, if you don't see it coming from a mile away.
I haven't read the source manga, but from what I hear it wore out it's welcome big time. The anime was cancelled in mid-arc, and the manga itself was cancelled on short notice and had to rush to tie things up. It's pretty common for action shows to wear thin after a while, but being so suddenly chucked is unusual.

I own 25 of 35 volumes and I plan to buy/read the remaining volumes as they are released. I have not seen the anime though due to it being out of print.
The problem with this manga is the same as all Shonen titles (for me anyways), they are more about longevity then the flow of the story. Haru (the lead role) goes on an epic adventure, fights people, grows stronger & repeat.
To me what sets this manga apart is the attitude of Haru, although its corny at times. I'd say the story would be better if it was shorter since it would keep the climax curve going. But it can't be 100% action, so they do other silly things to kill time.
I would reccomend it to people who enjoy shonen, people who don't may find it drawn out like other shonens.

The stories that seem to be survising this sort of thing is One Piece and Naruto, when you're talking about stories and adventures. I would include Hajime No Ippo but he's not on so much an adventure as these series are.

The manga is okay, but I found that it got really drawn out after a while, so I stopped reading after volume twelve. I want to continue it sometime, but I have a lot of other stuff to read, so it might be awhile. I watched some of the anime when it originally aired, and it was awful! At least the dub was, I don't know how the original, unedited was. I usually prefer dub over sub, in fact I always watch the dub, but this was just bad. So, I'd recommend the manga, although it is very lengthy.

What was wrong with it? I don't recall any serious editing. Given the Big Butt Bandits' ultimate attack, I kinda wished for some...

Well since the anime stops at 51 episodes and leaves the story unfinished, I'd say the manga in this case is a given. I still plan to finish it some day.

It's better than the anime, of course, since the main plot never really finishes in the anime.
But in itself, as with most shonen action series it has SERIOUS problems about pacing. After the death of King (Gale) which closes the first part of the story, which is not so bad until that, things just became repetitive. New organizations with strong characters came out of nowhere, and most of the material consists of fights filled with general shonen comeback. It also has a bit too many silly moments, some of which are relevant to the story. Luckily, it redeems itself in the last part of the story with finally the revelation is unveiled (the truth about Elie). Personally, Rave maybe one of the main reasons I'm bored of shonen action.

I'm not too much of a fan of Groove Adventure Rave but I think Mashima had redeemed himself with Fairy Tail. I enjoy Fairy Tail a hell of a lot more.
