No, please no. A Live Action movie is enough, if they try to animate it, it wouldn't be the same at all.

there already is a cartoon lord of the rings movie... it looks old though.
but what about an anime style series ? |

That would be interesting. With all the hype, I wouldn't be surprised if one was produced. I've even stumbled upon some LOTR doujinshi (yes they exist
 ) and I guess it could work, but eh...not to sure. I'm happy with the book and the movies as it is. I'll stick to Record of Lodoss War for my fantasy anime needs for now.

Ralph Bakshi's 1978 LOTR was not very good. I wouldn't recommend basing any sort of hypothetical animation series of LOTR off of that. Why make an anime out of LOTR? The movies are a masterpiece. Turning the trilogy into an animated series would almost seem like a last effort attempt at squeezing money out of the franchise. It is a pretty ridiculous idea in my mind. |

They made all three lord of the rings and then the hobbit as well. They are not terrible movies i guess, but they stay somewhat accurate to the books so its not too bad.

That movie would be The Hobbit. They showed it at my library, the evil thing put me to sleep, I slept through the whole second part.
Exactly! It'd just get annoying. And it'd be like beating a road killed animal. |

NO no no no no NO!
they shouldnt do an anime out off LOTR! I dont have anything against the movies - I think they are great (althought they dont serve this special atmosphere of the book). Making an animated LordOTR woudl be too much - it would be stealing from the fans who of course would want to see it. Now - if they made a live action Hobbit  that would be super!

Actully thats not true. They did make a animated feature out of The Hobbit and it was not too bad (was not good either) but only made a cartoon movie out of the first LOTR book. It was so bad that they never made the 2nd or 3rd.

Wrong. There's an animated Return of the King, by Rankin/Bass, who also animated The Hobbit. Raplh Bakshi did a really crappy animated Lord of the Rings that ends shortly after Helm's Deep.
