BVUSA's announcement of the Igloo DVDs with miniture flags made me curious about buying flags from the Gundam series. I have frequently seen various Gundam flags that are 24x36 being auctioned off from different seller from around the world but can't find their official release info or even original yen price. Are these bootlegs, bonus items, or official Banpresto/Bandai items?

I have also noticed a full sized 45x33" Zeon flag for sale and will buy it in a heartbeat if I can confirm that it is an official product.

Some of those flags might actually be towels made by Cospa like this one. I'm sure Banpresto probably has made some flag prize items over the years, I've be surprised if they hadn't, but these types of items aren't exactly my forte. Legit stuff is out there, but I couldn't really say what.

In Japan, Zeon flags were sold at some shops dealing in anime-related goods and a shop in an amusement park having a Gundam-related attraction. Since they are well-known shops and some of those shops even do business in conjunction with Sunrise, probably Zeon flags sold at those Japanese shops are legit.

If you want information about Gundam flags which are official products, may I suggest you that you should inquire of Sunrise about Gundam flags ?

Here is a little follow up. I ended buying an 80 X 110cm Orb Flag from a retailer who sold a bunch of products that I was pretty sure were not bootleg. Sure enough it has the proper Japanese text on the label with the Sunrise copyright and barcode. This flag is made by Movic who distribute CDs, figures, trading card, and a bunch of other interesting merchandise. Although the flag is of good quality it has the print on only one side unlike most flags that are meant to be hoisted up on a pole. Sadly enough these flags (which can be differentiated by their smaller counterparts by the four pole holes on the reinforced corners) are out of print and are somewhat hard to find in either country.
