I wonder if they'll stick with adapting Sentai seasons or if this yet another attempt at making something entirely new (or possibly another attempt at a Mighty Morphin reboot lol)

It's still funny to me that Hasbro kinda gave up on Power Rangers for a while right as King-Ohger was airing, a show practically designed to be adapted into Power Rangers because like 95% of it is green screen

I was told the future and upcoming Power Rangers may not be based or even used suits nor any footages from Super Sentai shows. So this means we could be seeing a Power Rangers show that will not be based on any Super Sentai. And given that we're living in an age where foreign-language entertainment like K-dramas, or any foreign-language TV miniseries are now being simulcast or made available in the US on streaming sites like Netflix, etc... I think the Super Sentai footage being used on Power Rangers has lost it's mystic and exoticness it once had back then. The fact that Discotek and Shout Factory are picking up tokusatsu shows for US home video release, there's no need for Power Rangers to use Super Sentai footage nor the suits because of Power Rangers fans are now having one way or another having access to Super Sentai.

If this does happen, I'm expecting a stand alone series or something along the lines of the 2017 Power Rangers movie. Much like mdo7 said, with so many live action Japanese and Korean live action shows making it to the States though various streaming services, i don't see much need for a Super Sentai adaptation.

The era of frankensteining shows together to create something new are long over and Power Rangers is going to need to change to stay relevant in the modern age.

Hasbro would be so much better suited just dubbing Gozyuger, but we all know since they have zero respect for tokusatsu, they’re going to keep trying to reinvent the MMPR wheel to less and less success. It doesn’t matter who airs it, as long as the people in charge don’t want to understand Sentai, they’ll keep missing the point.

The problem is Hasbro bought Power Rangers under CEO Brian Goldner who had big plans for the franchise as part of his bigger plans for live action entertainment and expanding Hasbro's portfolio. However, he passed away in 2021 and with the world in a pandemic after the rights transitioned in 2019 he was never really able to see those plans put into motion aside from rehashing MMPR. When Chris Cocks took over Hasbro in 2022 he really had no interest in Hasbro producing anything, he was a tech bro that spent most of his career at Microsoft before a stint running Wizards of the Coast where he made very unpopular decisions. His plans are to get Hasbro out of toy manufacturing and turn it into a licensing house and game developer. He had zero interest in Power Rangers and auctioned off all of their assets outside of the IP itself last November. The only reason they still make toys at all is because they make money, but the moment they don't they're going to be dropped. Hasbro currently only produces action figures for Transformers and G.I. Joe from their own IPs and licenses Marvel and Star Wars. They aren't creating or licensing new IPs and are licensing out anything and everything they've got. Playmates is currently licensing Power Rangers with other IPs being spread to various other companies (Jazwares has Micro Machines, The Loyal Subjects has MASK and so on). Whatever is going on with Super Sentai is exactly what Hasbro wants to happen, the only reason why a new Power Rangers is even happening is because somebody else wants to do it. Hasbro probably wont even make toys for this.

Honestly unless Toei starts being more open with legally streaming their shows like Tsuburaya, I think Power Rangers is probably the best chance people have of seeing Sentai material outside Japan save for using fansubs.

Though Hasbro pretty much curtailed Shout!Factory releasing more Sentai seasons in the West.

I've heard leaks that this new series is another reboot of Mighty Morphin. I wonder if this time they'll remember why the series was liked to begin with because unfortunately the movie they tried awhile back completely missed the point.

I don't think so MFrontier, I'm seeing signs that Power Ranger will not use any Super Sentai series nor the suits, so it looks like Power Rangers will be using original material and nothing from the Super Sentai series. If they did then some of the Reiwa era Super Sentai series like Boonboomger, Donbrothers, or King-Ohger would've been incorporated into Power Rangers already and yet I don't see any sign or indicator that Power Rangers aren't going to use any Super Sentai footage nor suits.

I know, I just don't think that's the smart play.

I 100% agree. The teenage melodrama wasn't what got me into Power Rangers as a kid, it was the elements from the Sentai footage. Sadly, the producers of today aren't Hiam Saban or Stan Lee, they aren't interested in dubbing the Japanese shows or adapting it. I think they want to reinvent Power Rangers and make it's own thing that's completely separate from the original source material.

No one really watched MMPR for its framing device which was essentially Saved by the Bell with a lot less charisma. The movie switching to being a remake of The Breakfast Club (hopefully the only remake of that film) and having that be the majority of the runtime didn’t endear it much to audiences either.

It’s why I rather they just dubbed Gozyuger. It’d be a lot cheaper to boot.

I thought the movie's issue was it took itself so seriously and tried to set up some cinematic universe nonsense no one wanted.

I don't really see the point of Power Rangers anymore. There's no reason not to just watch Sentai

"In talks" is doing a lot of lifting. We've been here before.

I won't be convinced until cameras are rolling.

Aside from the fact that some people don’t want to watch traditional sentai because it’s too foreign and weird for their tastes.
