I don't know why, but I think that three CLAMP anime remakes are apparently in development hell. TV Tropes said that "after the Tokyo Babylon anime remake was canceled in December 2020 due to the plagiarism issues, the production committee planned to restart the project with a new studio. However, no news has come of it since then." I think it's actually because of lack of the original cast and staff from the Tokyo Babylon OVA. As for the sequel to the Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card anime, it was announced back in April 2023, but with Emi Shinohara's passing, it seems very likely the plans were abandoned. Last year, the Magic Knight Rayearth anime remake was announced and that was it!
In my opinion, it was all the fault of the Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card anime's short life. It was supposed to kickstart a new wave of the CLAMP anime remakes, but it didn't. Seems very likely that the short-lived Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card anime instead put a halt to any adaptations of CLAMP's works. Unlike that Rumiko Takahashi anime remake trend, it seems that the CLAMP mania became the relic of the past. What do you think? |

It's only been six months since the Rayearth reboot was announced. This is a normal waiting period for more information to come out for a reboot that was just announced. A second season of CCS Clear Card was already announced in 2023 and it's clear they were waiting for the manga to finish to adapt more and Madhouse also has other projects they're working on and director Morio Asaka also has other projects he's working on. Tokyo Babylon is the only one of these definitely in development hell from the plagiarism issues.
