TV (tally of no. of titles) [running tally of no. of mins of content] (tally of 1st releases, re-releases, license rescue) Title - format - language - running time (episode count) - type (new/re-release/license rescue) - (release date - date of original Jp broacast = number of full days between [no. of years no. of days] - animation production - MSRP - notes OVA Movie/Special As you can see, I will be categorizing the releases between TV, OVAs and Movies/Specials (I will rely on the ANN Encyclopedia to identify those distinctions). I will follow WTK's practice and link the title to TRSI's entry. There will only be notes if there is something noteworthy or unusual about a particular release. For example, I would have noted OniAni as Funi's first experiment with a domestic sub-only release, etc. Under release date, I will note if the release was delayed beyond its original date. I'll keep running tallies of the number of titles for each distrib as well as for running times. In cases like Sentai where they release a title separately on Blu-ray and DVD, I will count it as a single release if they are identical other than format. @ varmint - thanks for pointing out that list, but it doesn't provide all the information I intend to. Also, that list has releases that haven't come out yet. I don't intend to add any releases to the OP until I have confirmed they have actually been released. However, the companion 2014 license thread will at least note the related license of those titles. |

One thing I find interesting is comparing physical release dates to original air dates. If that's something you could also include(when applicable) I would appreciate it. How you do it would of course be up to you. First episode air date? Last episode? Or maybe just the season it aired in? What do you think?

That's a very cool idea. I agree it's interesting to see at a glance roughly how much time elapsed since a show's original Japanese broadcast date and when the NA release hit the streets. My own inclination is that it should be sufficient to identify the season and year - i.e. fall 2010. I'm gonna incorporate that - thanks for the suggestion!
eta: I've decided not to list the extras because I'll be linking to the show's TRSI entry which will list what extras the release has. This is a way of keeping my listing shorter and more eye-friendly. eta2: oh man, my inner stats geek is really coming out. I've decided what I'm going to do is note the release date, the original date the title became available in Japan AND then calculate how many full days have elapsed between those two. |
