I don’t know how many of you watched the Banzai Movie when it was on USA a while back… but, those you who saw it and laughed your asses off may be pleased to know that Fox has picked it up, and it is scheduled to air again sometime this summer!! (Unfortunately I couldn’t find an exact date).
http://www.fox.com/schedule/schedule_2003.htm For those who need a clue in, the Banzai Movie is a spin off of interactive Japanese game shows. They show a movie (typically a popular one like Adams Family or Lethal Weapon) and during the breaks they do crazy betting games. For example; there is the infamous “Mr. Shake-hands Man”, who corners oblivious celebrities and (you guessed it) shakes hands with them. However, its up to the celebrity to break the conversation, and the hand shake. You can vote online during the commercial break as to how long you think the hand shake will last. Another of my favorites was when they had a Priest, a Rabbi, and the Incredible Hulk (TV actor) compete for the soul of a small child. The one who could keep an exercise bike above 20mph for the longest time, won (it was the Hulk… poor kid). Again, you voted online for the one you thought would win. If you guessed right you could win cool electronic gadgets. Sometimes the movies suck, but the games are great. (I’m thinking PIP on my TV, so I can play PS2 during the movie). If any of you hear a more exact air date, let me know! |

yea I remember last summer they were airing a bunch of cheap shows to kee rating up. an d they were successful too. from what I hear it could be successful. But, it's fox so it can surely bust. I'll see tough, sounds funny.

They showed this on CityTV in Canada for a while in the summer... except it was a half-hour series, not a movie.
I liked the handshaking guy with Anjelica Huston... she lasted over 2 minutes before pulling her hand away, and she talked about The Royal Tenenbaums while he was shaking her hand, my favourite movie in years. |
