I've started watching the fansubs of "Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu" (a great series with an unwieldy name), and I've gotta say, the theme song is the catchiest dang thing I've heard in a year.

"Catchy" doesn't necessarily mean "favorite" or "best". It's that song that gets into your head and won't let go. When I found myself involuntarily singing "LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, TU-RO-PI-KU-AN-AAAAAA!" in the shower, that's when I knew the theme song was catchy.

What other anime theme songs fall into this category?

-- Tenchi ni Narumon's "Datte, Datte, Daisuki Dakara". When I first heard this song, I thought it sounded weird, but two episodes later it was impossible to get out of my head.
-- Ranma 1/2's original "Yapapa yapapa..."

Others?

a few that tend to get stuck in my head:

Love from Excel Saga
Anata No Koro Ni from Magical Shopping District
Stray from Wolf's Rain
Get Along from Slayers
Carnval Babel from Blue Seed
the theme from Sailor Moon

The opening theme song of Azumanga Daioh and "Space is Super Wried" for Urusei Yatsura. It's too friggn' catchy in my book.

Ai (Chuuseishin) from Excel Saga sticks with me whenever I hear it.
The Real Folk Blues gets stuck in my head a lot too.
Kopperia no Hitsugi from Noir is another one that gets caught in my head alot.
And yes the Steel Angel Kurumi theme is very catchy, even though I've only heard it on trailers (I doubt I'd ever buy the series, but then again, that is a very catchy song).

I'll agree with Steel Angel Kurumi. Cyrax even mentioning the song got it stuck in my head. I get Rinbu Revolution stuck in my head often enough, and the opening theme to X TV.

Towa no hana - Ai Yori Aoshi

Last Kiss - Orphen
Blurry Eyes - DNA^2
Heart of Sword - Kenshin

Let me be With You & Raison D'Etre from Chobits
Tenshi no Yubikiri & Yumi no Naka e from HHC
Ride the Shooting Star from FLCL
Yakusoku wa Iranai from Escaflowne

...and pretty much everything from Cowboy Bebop. I listened to the soundtrack before watching the show and decided that no show with a soundtrack that good could be crappy.

I will agree that STA has a very catchy theme song, but I must say the one that sticks with me most has to be the Trigun theme song... That heavy metal guitar just strikes a cord with me somewhere Smile

"Touch, touch, kokode touch..."

OP theme of the highschool baseball/romantic anime, Touch.

I wasn't even following the series. I only caught a few episodes here and there, but I still find myself humming the melody once in a while.

Yeah, I'd have to go with a few that have already been mentioned
Yakusoku wa Iranai from Escaflowne
Get Along from Slayers
My Heart Your Heart from Ah! My Goddess

Though I know its not technically a theme song, I find Komm Susser Todd from End of Eva is addicting... "It all returns to nothing..." Oh, and lately I can't shake Key of Twilight from .//hack.sign
