Does anybody know what this is for sure? The description (and the same description is everywhere) is kind of vague. As far as I know there aren't 160 pages of haibane manga in existence. I want to order this, but if its just a TokyoPop style "Cine-Manga" using panels from the anime, I won't waste my money.

It's basically like cine-manga, though I've heard that Darkhorse produces much better adaptations than Tokyopop used to do. I'm not usually interested in these, but I like Haibane Renmei enough to buy it. I don't expect to be floored like I was when I watched the show, but hopefully it will capture some of what made HR so special.
Plus, if it sells well, Darkhorse might bring over the original manga or some of ABe's other art.

How do you know? Because from the description it could be one of the Haibane artbooks... I wish there was some way to get a better official description before I put my order in to my comic store (due this week!)

It's like Tokyopop's Cine book. Come on, it's obvious from the discription, "Anime manga" not "Art Book"

DH also release Trigun Anime Manga which you can preview if you like. Well the only good thing about anime manga is it has color and better quality paper.

Kagemusha is correct. It is indeed cine-manga A.K.A ani-manga.

It's the true fact.

Edit: Darkhunter is ALSO right. Sorry about that, DH

Ahh I didn't know about the Trigun one... well that settles that.

Why the hell do people waste their money on these?!

Well of course anime fan that already seen the anime probably might not want it, but not everyone watches anime. Some people just enjoy collecting and reading comic and manga, so even if they use sceencap from the anime it would still be a coherent manga. I see this doing well with the comicbook -only crowd because it has color and the size is similar to a TPB, but that's just my guess. And hey that's not a bad idea with all the super hero comic out, it's something different for comic book reader. And hardcore fan of the series will definitely check it out.
