I have two things to say, this news is fantastic and haters are gonna forever hate.
That is all.

People will buy anything these days. I'm surprised it sold so well given the low overall quality of the show. But I guess dedicated fans are dedicated fans. Obviously, I'm not one of them.

How are those sour grapes? Sour?
I love how people keep saying how low quality this anime is, even if it's selling like radiation suits after Hiroshima.

We survived the great war between Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z, we lived through Koi Kaze and Utena... only to be taken down by K-on. Woe to the anime fandom, we have met our match and they are... cute!

On a similar note, hopefully K-On! will sell well for Bandai when they finally release it here. The big sales in Japan do not necessarily translate to similar sales here, as Haruhi seemed to demonstrate. But I'm rooting for Bandai and looking forward to the deluxe versions (pack in CD's) of their dvd's.

How did they get all those cans on Mugi's face without her waking up?

Does the latter actually mean anything? Like, at all? Semantically?

But they sparkle! And to many teen gals, they're dreamy.

Say whatever you want about Twilight but at least it has a plot. Besides, teen girls fapping over sparkly vampires are worse than middle age men fapping over prebuscent girls?

I'm a big fan of the show. It's fluff, for sure, and it'll never inspire the kind of discussion that, say, Evangelion does, but there's no law stating that every show has to surpass some invisible watermark of intellectual stimulation. It was a well-animated show with some solid music, a great sense of humour and really likeable characters. The second series in particular was like spending time with good friends.
I think the hatred towards it and its popularity is largely borne of association; a large portion of the show's fans are, unfortunately, going to be mouth-breathing otaku who jerk off to the characters, which I find bizarre, as there aren't even any panty shots in there. Still people don't want to be associated with THOSE horrible perverts, so they hate the show by default. Personally, I see it as an extension of the Enid Blyton books I read as a child. Cute girls doing cute things with their friends and slowly growing up. It's only a horrible pervert-magnet if you want it to be.

It's not about plot, it's about legs. And for christ's sake, since when is plot a requirement in comedy? Besides, middle age men fapping over prebuscent girls with smooth legs are better than teen girls fapping over sparkly hairy-legged vampires?
If you want sparkly stuff, go buy a coke or something.
