シン・エヴァンゲリオン新劇場版| I'm assuming is what I'm supposed to see, but I see moonspeak for the musicial symbol for some reason. I'm excited for these movies to end. Very awesome high quality works of art

I see what they did with the title. Have to admit, I chuckled.
シン are the letters that Shinji's name starts with when typed in Japanese, correct? |

It's a musical sign. It means in English the same as in every other language - that you have to repeat the piece (or a part of it) before it ends. |

It is correct that what is written is shin, but his name is probably written in kanji/typed in hiragana. What is being used there is called katakana, which is only used for foreigner's names, foreign words, and something akin to bold type. I think shin just means new in this context and there is no deeper meaning.
You wouldn't any more then you would a musical note since it is sheet music notation. Albeit, it is located in more recent versions of Unicode, so it is doubtful that the system font being used by this site's css will have the symbol, thus it will display weird characters on most people's systems. |

I wasn't expecting the title to be a musical sign. I wonder if it will Take Anno three years to complete the final film.

Wow. They're actually outdoing Square Enix in retarded names.
Sorry. I'm not overly fond of this one. |

Kinda bummed that there is no "You xxx (Not) yyy" in the title.
For an extra little thing, the repeat sign they use is one that signals you repeat it and then the piece ends. There are others where you repeat and then continue on to the rest of the music behind it. It's a nice little touch considering that you could take these remakes as a "repeat" and now the franchise is over... although only time will tell. Anyways, I really hope we can get some Madoka-style action going on over here and US fans are made to wait like 2 years until they can legally watch this without importing. |

So do you guy read the articles, or do you just jump straight into the comments? @Fletcher1991 They said in the article that the final film is coming out next year. Secondly to everyone else, if you noticed in the article they never gave an English name to the film. That's because the English titles of the films aren't a translation of the Japanese titles. They are completely different. If you read the article you would know that the Japanese titles are the names of classical music movements. The sign he's using as the title for the last film is very clever, because while being consistent with all other titles he is using the symbol that is used in music to symbolise a repeat of what has just been played and then the piece is ended, thus representing what he has done with the franchise and that this is the final film. It's clever not retarded as some have mistakenly noted. And finally, it is Anno himself creates the Evangelion films English title, with their names having something to do with the movie. So, to summarise, they have given the final film's Japanese title. The English title will probably be given on New Years Day via their website like it was this year. |

Hmm... strange that the decimal HTML entity doesn't show up, and the hex isn't working at all.
According to fileformat.info, only 4 fonts support the character. Might want to insert an image of it instead, so that everyone can see it. |

The English "you can (not)" titles always come a little later! The one for Eva 3.0-- You Can (Not) Redo-- wasn't announced until the beginning of this year, for instance. I know we'll get one for this last baby to keep the naming conventions nice and uniform.
