Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say "porn title", but yeah... I could see some awkward moments.
Guy A: Hey, man, did you check out episode 37 of Absolutely Lovely Children? Guy B: Oh yeah, it was totally awesome. That was some grade A action! Remember when the three girls joined* and started- Chris Hansen: Why don't you two have a seat over there? *Episode 37, battle against Bullet. They joined their powers, you sick freaks. |

It's great to see Sentai holding Industry Panels at conventions. Hopefully we will see more presence from them at future cons.

Ironically, the only things I've bought from Sentai (Clannad, A Channel, Kampfer) are anime about High School girls.

Hmm, I guess this means for future reference we can assume that only the well-preforming simulcasts will be up for dubs which is nice to know.

Aw dammit. I liked how "BD License" for Sentai always meant "Dub". Surely there's enough episodes (and therefore data) for them to determine if its worth it or not. |

I had the pleasure of attending this panel as part of my first ever anime convention (and winning an A Channel DVD for knowing that Clannad was Sentai's first dub -- and now the author of this article might know who I am ).
It was definitely nice to see a panel like this for myself. Aside from what was mentioned in the article, David also ran through the current list of upcoming Sentai DVDs, and answered some questions on why some shows are dubbed and others are not. In particular, he mentioned that, while looking over the numbers for simulcasts, he noticed that Demon King Daimao (sp? I don't know all these anime titles...) was second only to High School of the Dead in viewings, leading to their decision to dub that title. Also, Sentai currently has no plans to do combined DVD/Blu-ray releases. Reason: They haven't quite figured out a method of disc reproduction that works well for such releases, and they have found that most people will buy either the DVD or the Blu-ray, but not both. (Not sure if this is old news or not.) And yes, someone did ask if they had Series X, and yes, David did answer with the reply I've always heard of but not gotten to hear until now: "I can neither confirm nor deny." I think I can now die happy. |

I always thought it was mostly a happy coincidence that Sentai BD releases had dubs on them if the streams performed well. I think the two ef series is one exception. I guess one should dig through license announcements and see if some of these past titles had streaming rights first, then Sentai announced home media licenses down the road (I think Yumekui Merry and Infinite Stratos fall in that category, but I don't remember what else) - that gives enough time for Sentai to figure out if a show should be dubbed or not. For winter 2012 - Sentai announced streaming and home media rights for all there shows pretty much in one shot.
I find this quite amusing. I wonder how well Demon King Daimao has done in sales for Sentai though. |

I WANT TO BELIEVE. But alas; that means going through Harmony (Blargh..) Gold which as we know, hold the license to the franchise with an iron grip. |

I know Section 23 will be at Phoenix Comicon this year. Theres some sort of Highschool of the Dead party/ event going on, which I'm sure they have some involvement with. Them along with Anchor Bay, Bandai (yes, Bandai ), and Aniplex will also have anime screenings. Wish I could go, but I doubt I can make it. Never been to a con before. =/ |

Hey Sentai, ever heard of Seikon no Qwaser and Manyuu Hikenchou? (Unless... Funimation already has them and plans to announce the news at Anime Boston or Sakura-Con.) But there are probably some titles that will never get licensed (Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger) based on past sales no matter how vocal fans are online. |
