And I personally think that it's very sad that people are "fans of genres." I just look for quality, well-told stories. Quality is not something found in yaoi since it is based around a "LOOKKIT THE GAY PEOPLE!!!" attitude and therefore any serious stories about same-sex relationships (which generally do not make a big deal out of the characters' orientations) would fall outside of it...if you can't see that there's no helping you.

Funny. And this is coming from a guy who has never seen or witnessed shounen ai or yaoi shows in general. First of all, i want you to understand that shounen ai and yaoi are totally different and LOVELESS, is a shounen ai series, not YAOI. Second of all, How can you confidently claim that quality is not something found in yaoi in spite the fact that you have obviously never seen or witness any of them? If you have, you wouldn't say it doesn't contain quality because i am sure quality exist in yaoi and in other kinds of genre that no doubt exist. There are tons of shounen ai/yaoi series that are well told in terms of plot and story. YAOI does not have the sign that says "OH LOOK, GAY PEOPLE, YAY!" Ignorant bigots like you do not even have the right or credibility to say that. And funny how you say it like it's a FACT.

I responded to your post in the first place because i couldn't stand seeing people like you bashing and denigrating shows that i love. I was merely standing up for it and defending it.But after seeing more of your comments, it feels like it's useless to even defend it since all your comments are just childish and contain no evidence, proof, not even examples, all but false facts. |
Look, it's crap, and you can still like crap, regardless of whatever merits it has or doesn't have. Sometimes people dislike something because hey, they just dislike it. While in general I think most people should just ignore things if it doesnt appeal to them., I can also understand the general temptation of posting in it and making everyone else aware of your opinion.
It's something that really does require tough skin. Ontop of that, jfrog does present his argument with a bit more sense, whereas you are simply pulling the "NO! YOU ARE WRONG! THIS IS WRONG! STOP BASHING MY THING!!!!1111".
I hate to turn this thread to me, because it isnt about me, but I like crap such as Dragonball. I understand the annoying things about it, the cheap animation, the drawn out sections, the general staleness of the plot. However, these are things I cannot change nor reasonably justify, so if someone doesnt like it for that, or any other reason, so be it.
Understand that it is just a cartoon, and nothing to get in arms about. It takes time to realise this (god forbid I know the motions) but you'll eventually realise it.
Subsequently, the show looks crap. I also kinda beleive that I or others shouldn't have to humble themselves with "in my honest opinion, true only to what I and maybe others thing" whenever they want to express an opinion.
edit- I've also been thinking that, well, anyone will try and argue anything, in order to "protect" their series or genre or whatever. Once they've run out of things to argue with, they simply claim "Ugh! There's no point, you'll never learn/change!". WHy is it that, just because they disagree with you in the most blunt of ways, that it's THEM who have to change because you can't stand any kind of criticism?
