If we're including short pieces, then Chitose Getchu doesn't have an opener. I wouldn't count it, though.

I would also say that the little paid attention to series Ebiten had no OP, it would have a short opening of some sort, and this was usually a parody of what they were doing in that episode. Might also say the ED was significant for being purely live action. ED song
The TV broadcast does have an opener, and a unique closer for each episode.
I was not aware of that, the encyclopedia page currently has nothing listed in regards to openings or closings.

I enjoy openings/endings because I never know if I will like the song or not -- it is rare for me to love a song on my first hearing it. By the way, the ONA Eve no Jikan does not have an opener; I found that disappointing.

No, they are not getting longer.

Thanks for the info. I could surmise the reason they feel longer is many are actually getting better, in my opinion.

I generally don't watch OPs, but if the song's catchy, I'll let them play every so often.

Can definitely distort time this way. I could swear the OP to Lucky Star lasts 24 minutes.

I love OPs! Gives me time to get the popcorn. It's sad American shows don't have them much anymore, though I know Tivo's changing everything. When we waited a week to see a new episode of the X-Files or Buffy, that OP was a key part of the whole experience that we'd waited a week for. We spent it anticipating the good stuff to come.

ONA and OVA don't count...
