At first I was wondering how good a film based off of Vocaloid could be. Then I saw it's made by P.A. Works and now I'm like, this might be interesting.

Ladies, gents, and nons, it’s finally happening. We finally got a Vocaloid anime.

….Maybe it’s too late to be saying that, since Petit Sekai exists and Hatsune Miku did appear in Dropkick on my Devil, but whatever.

I knew (about) Miku for a long time, think I heard some songs of hers, but was never really crazy about her - still, she's undeniably super iconic, and legendary at this point.

I believe this is my first time hearing her talking "normally", and for some reason, I just felt emotional, and a bit nostalgic, I guess.

This movie may be for fans, but I have a feeling that it will be something really nice.

Looks cute, but with all those characters is the movie going to make sense to those who have not spent tens or hundreds of hours playing the game?

The opening arcs of each storyline involves the characters in each unit finding each other and forming said units - from the trailer it's clear said units have already formed so this movie would take place some time after that. Luckily PA Works previously animated a collection of shorts going over each unit and hyper condensing each of those opening arcs into 5 minutes digests, which in hindsight were probably made exactly for people who would like to watch this movie but aren't too familiar with the Project Sekai cast, so that's all you need to enjoy the movie. I really hoped they would announce an update that made the game crash less but alas.
I suspected the game wasn't doing super great financially but if they're splurging on a movie then I guess they're doing fine... I just wish they'd spent that money making the game crash less instead!!!
I also wish Crypton just made talkaloids for the movie.

I don't know anything about the phone game, but it's fun to see Hatsune Miku getting an anime film. Hopefully the story will be simple enough to follow for newcomers.
