But why are the Sailor Senshi in this magazine? Unless Toei and Kodansha are just trying to increase press for the new anime.

So,Sailor Moon and Sailor Mini-Moon (aka Serena and Rini) are on the cover of a Japanese fashion magazine. How long will it be before we get either of them or both on the cover of an American fashion magazine? I wouldn't be surprised if that happened.

Article said that the art director is a fan of the manga, so an easter egg thing more than a tease of the new anime I would say.

I would be. In fact, I would say it's incredibly unlikely. Sailor Moon just doesn't mean as much here as it does over there, or animation in general for that matter. If an animated character graced the cover of an American magazine it would likely be a Disney princess or a Pixar character. While Sailor Moon is pretty big in the American anime culture, that culture is still quite niche and certainly not one the fashion magazines are particularly focused on.

Marge in Playboy! But the Simpsons are some of the most recognized humanoid characters in modern culture.

It's a bit washed out on my monitor, but what I can make out Chibi Usa looks like she's topless?

Your right, she's topless along with her mom. Here is a better picture(maybe NSFW?): Pic

You mean as incredibly unlikely as it was for a mascot, made for a keyboard company and becoming an icon, being used to sell Toyota cars in the US?

Not that bothered really. A bit cheeky of them though. Poking the bare, so to speak.

Does anyone else feel like Sailor Moon's Revival, especially if successful, is going to keep the HxH manga from ever completing? (Oh well, at least the last arc ended in a nice place to call the end of a series if one wanted... also this comment was meant more as a joke.)

Gee, I hope not. Given that the Chimera Ant arc was such a bitter waste of neigh on four years and all.
