After denying earlier rumors, looks like ADV Films has picked up Azumanga Daioh.

Too bad ADV's track record is "Wait a year." Or in case of Nadisco the Movie (which is finally getting dubbed.) two plus years. Oh well, time to delete some files.

...regarding this week's "Ima" comments about AD...

I am one of those people who would love to see a version of AD which kept the original Japanese jokes but explained them to a non-Japanese speaking audience (i.e. I can't listen to a raw track).

When I read someone's explanation of the "Bruce 1, 2 and Lee" joke, it really made me appreciate the slightly off-the-beaten-track humour that this show appears to contain.

Unfortunately, I don't think ADV can make enough money off me and my like-minded anime watchers to do such a release. Just pointing out that we *are* out there.

Azumanga Daioh is the most pointless show ever created. None will 'perish' at the 'coming of Osaka' and her endlessly unfunny, banal, mundane, routine and cliched 'jokes'. I will not ever understand why fans like the show so much, or attach so much prestige and importance to a show that's basically about a bunch of boring, inept girls. I, for one, will totally ignore this release.

wow, i thought i was the only one who didn't like this show. while i don't think it's the most unfunny show(i've seen worse), i do think it's very girly to the point where it's almost hard to sit through.

Why does this feel like the Apple Jacks ad. Zac does understand why people find it funny, and the fan shout "We just do!"

I've seen much, much worse than AzuDai, of course. It isn't the worst thing ever. Personally, though, it hits so many sour notes I can't stand it.

Oh, plus all the fans I know of that show are like 25+ guys. It's supposed to be for little girls. I know no females or children that like it. Only creepy older guys. That adds to my hatred.

What makes you think that a guy who is older than 25 is creepy? Correct me if I'm wrong, but a lot of the eligible bachelors on shows like the Bachlorette are older than 25, and still considered "hot" rather than creepy.

And do you find Vin Diesel (who's rumored to be pushing 40), but still into video games and comics, "creepy"? Rolling Eyes
