"She's not wholly good"
...Pardon me? I get saying "Hikari isnt a saint/a paragon" but this is extremely odd to say about a young girl? And I didn't even love Max Heart lol. Also the whole "Brainwashing is okay because it was done before" is also weird. Wisely, the one other season to do the brainwashing plot did it WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better, I wont spoil it though |

Max Heart will forever be that weird transitionary period where Toei was bombarded with Precure's success and had no idea what to do with that. They'd already awkwardly grafted an extra 23 episodes onto the last season, so where do they go from there?
So it's no surprise that under those conditions the end result they came to was the first season again but worse. A bunch of the same plots but executed worse (give us another interchangeable lacrosse episode), worse villains, worse animation, worse pacing, stagnated main characters just going through the same motions without going anywhere, etc. Special mention goes to probably the worst MacGuffin search in Precure history, where most of the time the heartiels aren't even connected (thematically or otherwise) to the narrative and just collect themselves instead of the cures having any part in it or even acknowledging they exist. Even Hikari adds so little to the show because she has the vibrancy and character of a piece of drywood (and the show's idea of a big mid-season climax for her is to have her stare at her "brother" for a couple seconds), while we were graced with Pollun but somehow worse with Lulun. Even though they improved in various places with the next sequel series, I'm glad they eventually washed their hands of this concept outside of bringing teams back years later for single cour reunion shows. |

https://web.archive.org/web/20090804085417/http://webmagazine.gentosha.co.jp/B-TEAM/vol208_special_qanda.html The answer to question 11: "If you think about the story over a long span of a year, you will definitely get bored, so in order to increase the tempo, we decided to finish it once in half a year and think about the rest after that." In other words, awkwardly grafting a second half onto a story that had already been completed because they weren't sure what the reception would be and so increased the tempo to gauge the audience and be able to pivot if need be. |

Good thing I never said "they only planned 26 episodes", and in fact what you just quoted made it very obvious what I was talking about (that they made a story to be completed in half a year and had no clear picture of what would come next, which is evident in the final product). I hope one day you learn to read, you don't seem to be doing a very good job of it so far based off everything I've seen. |

Yes, and then I elaborated on what I meant due to the aforementioned inability to read on your part. This can't really be any clearer, sadly you seemed to not get it despite it being spelled out for you. You can just admit that you took a general grievance about what some other people have said in the past and tried to apply it here without really thinking, it's ok. Also while working on your reading skills, you might also want to look up "literally" in a dictionary. |
