TOKYO, JAPAN - Mar 22, 2025 - On Saturday, March 22, at the AnimeJapan 2025 PONY CANYON booth stage, a special stage event was held for the upcoming anime TOUGEN ANKI, set to premiere in July 2025. The anime is based on the popular manga by Yura Urushibara, serialized in AKITASHOTEN's Weekly Shōnen Champion. It is a next-generation dark hero tale inspired by the legendary Momotaro, depicting a fierce conflict between those who inherit the blood of Oni and those who inherit the blood of Momotaro.

The event featured cast members Kazuki Ura (as Shiki Ichinose), Koutaro Nishiyama (as Jin Kougasaki), Kaito Miura (as Rokuro Kiriyama), and Aimi (as Kuina Sazanami). They discussed the series, their respective characters, and behind-the-scenes experiences from the recording sessions.

During the event, several updates were revealed. First, the second official trailer was released. This new trailer highlights the protagonist Shiki Ichinose's experience at Rasetsu Academy, a school dedicated to training Oni, incorporating new footage and featuring the energetic OP theme song "OVERNIGHT" by THE ORAL CIGARETTES.

I'm very honored to be performing the opening theme for TOUGEN ANKI! In this song, I tried to capture the spirit of the protagonist, who continues to uphold justice even when he's far from his ideal self. I believe his circumstances are something many people can relate to in everyday life. Rather than living in regret thinking, “I wish I could've been more like this…,” my hope is that this song will give someone the push they need. I'm also really looking forward to the anime myself, and I hope everyone will enjoy both the song and the show! —------------------------------------------------

Additionally, Ryōhei Kimura was announced as the voice of Kyoya Oiranzaka, the commanding officer of the Kyoto branch's support unit in the Oni Agency. Furthermore, the second key visual was unveiled, depicting the Rasetsu Academy members navigating a sinister underground passage illuminated by a red glow, led by their instructor Naito Mudano.

■Synopsis
"You inherit the blood of an Oni (demon)..."

The bloodlines of "Oni" and "Momotaro" have been passed down among certain humans for generations. Long ago, the Oni, aware of their own ferocity, lived in seclusion. However, their peace was shattered by an invasion led by Momotaro. Over thousands of years, these two factions formed the "Momotaro Agency" and the "Oni Agency," respectively, and have been locked in conflict ever since.

The protagonist, Shiki Ichinose, suddenly learns of his Oni lineage following an unexpected attack by Momotaro. This revelation sets Shiki on a path to discover the destiny that lies within his blood — a meeting with the Oni dwelling within him.
