The English Dub of this has aged badly. I'm saying this as this is the first time I'm watching it (finally off the bucket list!). I do however like the first and last episodes op in English as well as sub and found one of the ed good too. What kills the dub is Priss who is the main character. Having said all that I'm glad it's included and looking forward to Animego's past Wilmington, NC dubs in the future from a teaching perspective. As for the set and the OVA itself, A+ because I'm still going through it!

Why does the Blu-ray cover say MegaTokyo 2023?

I have the older Blu-ray release that AnimEigo did in 2018. I'm glad they did this new release, it's good to know they're going to keep this show accessible to both new and old fans at a reasonable price.

Does seem like a glaring typo that should have been corrected, doesn't it?

It isn't that it aged badly - that dub has been infamous for its poor quality from the day it was released. Even at the time Pioneer, Viz, Manga and Streamline were putting out better dubs than this.

It's a shame it never got redub by a better studio. Especially now that technology exists to separate out voices from the Japanese track, the lack of an M&E track would be much easier to overcome.

It WAS corrected for the actual packaging, but the thumbnails out there just won't die

Though I can appreciate the original as a trend-setter and stylistic effort, I have always preferred the TV series reboot 2040 because it's more cohesive and consistent, develops all of its characters better, and lays a better foundation for its story. (And has a MUCH better English dub; Hilary Haag will always be the voice of Nene for me.) I know a lot of people weren't happy about it opting for more of a techno than rock-based musical score, but I thought it did pretty well on that front, too. Admittedly, it wasn't as stylish or cutting-edge, and its take on Boomers did get weird in the end, but at one point it was probably the series I most frequently rewatched. Can't say the same for the original.

I just bought the previous release last year along with 2040 (highly underrated). Sat through an entire Sunday watching the full OVA series and loved every minute of it. In Japanese of course. Tried the English dub as hard as I could; by the time I got to all four girls, I gave up. Good lord, how far we've come.

Halfway through 2040 right now. Deserves a remaster.

I picked this and Crash up from Animeigo directly (slipcovers!) and it's next on my classic watch list as this season is winding down.
Been a while since I've watching it, so looking forward to checking out this great release Smile
