posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Online retailer and Kindle developer Amazon announced on Thursday that it has reached an agreement to buy digital comic book platform Comixology. The acquisition should be completed by the end of the second fiscal quarter.
"Comixology's mission is to spread the love of comics and graphic novels in all forms," Comixology co-founder and CEO David Steinberger said. "There is no better home for Comixology than Amazon to see this vision through. Working together, we look to accelerate a new age for comic books and graphic novels."
The platform offers multiple manga and comic book titles. Comixology partnered with Viz Media Europe and Viz's French division Kazé to offer its catalog, as well as Seven Seas Entertainment titles and some Tokyopop properties.
