Yonebayashi, Ghibli's Arrietty TV Premiere Earns 16.5%

Hiromasa Yonebayashi and Studio Ghibli's The Secret World of Arrietty (Karigurashi no Arrietty) anime film earned a 16.5% rating during its television premiere in Tokyo's Kanto region on Friday, December 16. The film adapts Mary Norton's children's novel The Borrowers. The film opened in Japanese theaters in July of 2010, and it will open in North America on February 17, 2012.
The 13th airing of Hayao Miyazaki and Ghibli's 1986 anime film Laputa: Castle in the Sky garnered a 15.9% rating a week earlier on December 9, and its climax set a worlwide Twitter record of 25,088 tweets per second.
