posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television, announced at New York Comic Con's "Marvel Television Presents: Anime on G4" panel on Friday that Harold Perrineau will play the titular character in the American television channel G4's upcoming English-dubbed broadcast of Blade. The supernatural action anime produced by Madhouse Studios will see its North American television premiere on G4 in January 2012.
Known as "Michael" in on ABC's Lost television series and "Link" in the Matrix films, Perrineau is excited to become part of the newest Marvel anime series. In light of the announcement, he said, “It's very exciting, and a very cool job! I get to wield a sword and kill vampires… And just generally be a badass. It's a lot of fun!”
The 12-episode Blade series aired on Japanese television from July 1 to September 16. Directed by Mitsuyuki Masuhara, the anime is one installment of a four-part collaboration between Marvel Comics and Madhouse Studios, which also includes the Iron Man, Wolverine, and X-Men Anime series. Dubs of Iron Man and Wolverine debuted on G4 in July, and X-Men is scheduled to begin airing on the network on October 21.
Blade follows the story of the "Daywalker" vampire hunter Erik Brooks as he investigates the Asian vampire organization called "Existence".
