Japanese Box Office, December 4-5

The live-action film adaptation of the Space Battleship Yamato anime franchise opened as the new #1 film in Japan. It earned the equivalent of US$6,274,087 on 440 screens to add to its total of US$11,212,294. (The film had actually opened on Wednesday, December 1.)
Bleach: Jigoku-hen, the fourth film based on Tite Kubo's Bleach supernatural manga, brought in US$2,365,449 on 233 screens to debut at #3.
Heartcatch Precure! Hana no Miyako de Fashion Show…Desu ka!?, the ninth film from the Pretty Cure/Precure magical girl franchise, dropped from #5 to #9 in its sixth weekend. It added US$268,784 on 160 screens to its total-to-date of US$10,213,633.
Umizaru: The Last Message, the third live-action film based on Shuho Sato's manga about the Japanese Coast Guard, dropped from #8 to #12. It earned the equivalent of US$144,219 on 289 screens in its 12th weekend. It now has a total of US$94,562,643.
The 3D film version of Eiko Kera's ATASHIn'CHI comedy manga fell from #14 to #15 in its fourth weekend. It earned US$74,936 on 82 screens for a total-to-date of US$885,111.
