posted on by Jacob Browning
Toonzai, an over-the-air television programming block, will launch in the United States on Saturday morning with Dragon Ball Z Kai as one of its premiere shows. Toonzai is the rebranded Saturday cartoon lineup originally known as TheCW4Kids. Dragon Ball Z Kai will air at 10:00 a.m. along with other shows such as Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and Sonic X. The plan to air Dragon Ball Z Kai was announcedby Funimation and 4Kids Entertainment in April.
Dragon Ball Z Kai condenses the 1989-1996 Dragon Ball Z anime series to more closely follow Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga. The series features digital high-definition remastering, a re-recorded soundtrack, and select scenes updated with new effects or re-animated footage.
Funimation already released the first 13 episodes on Blu-ray Disc and DVD, while the next 13 episodes are scheduled for release in September. The series had already premiered on the digital television channel Nicktoons in May.
