posted on by Egan Loo
The Japanese production company DLE is producing the first anime shorts based on Acerola-chan, the mascot of Nichirei Foods' Acerola Drink (a drink made from Barbados cherries). The first 170-second Flash-animated episode, "Kirei na Hana no Sakase-kata," has been online since earlier this month. Acerola-chan promotes the drink's image as a healthy source of Vitamin C and other nutrients. The anime adds a new character, Hiyoko-chan, with whom Acerola-chan can interact. Mankyū, the director of the Utsurun Desu. anime, oversees the character voices Kaori Nazuka (Acerola-chan) and Tomokazu Sugita (Hiyoko-chan).
DLE also produced the Keihin Kazoku television series with Flash animation, and FROGMAN's Himitsu Kessha Taka no Tsume THE MOVIE ~Soutou wa Nido Shinu~ (Eagle Talon The Movie - The Chancellor Only Lives Twice) film, which screened at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival last year. DLE signed a partnership with the Crunchyroll media-distribution website to stream some of its titles, including the cult favorite Eagle Talon.
