New Candy Candy merchandise sees daylight

CD soundtrack in France, re-redited novel in Japan
France's Loga-Rythme is releasing the first Candy Candy merchandise in over a decade, a CD with background music from the 1979 series. Featuring the compositions of Takeo Watanabe, this CD marks the first time a Candy Candy soundtrack has been available overseas. (A domestic-only 33t was released in Japan in the 1980s). Loga-Rythme currently ships only to France, Switzerland, and Belgium.
In a separate development, Kyoko Mizuki's original Candy Candy novel has been re-edited and re-released through Book-Ing in Japan.
Both of these new releases suggest progress in the struggle to produce new Candy Candy merchandise. Five years ago, copyright disputes between two of Candy Candy's creators brought a series of lawsuits that made the production of new Candy Candy items nearly impossible.
