Akiba's Trip Vampire-Hunting Game to Get Updated Release
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
According to a listing on Japan's online retail website Amazon, the vampire-hunting action game Akiba's Trip will be updated and re-released as Akiba's Trip Plus on June 21. The game developer Acquire released the original Akiba's Trip game for the PlayStation Portable on May 19, 2011.
Akiba's Trip Plus will feature full voice acting for event scenes, a new animated sequence featuring the game's idol group, a recreation of Tokyo's Akihabara (Akiba) revised for 2012, and other updates. People who pre-order the game will receive a special book with game visuals and a CD with the in-game idol group's song "Vanity Vamp." Acquire also announced last Tuesday that a manga adaptation of Akiba's Trip will debut in ASCII Media Works' Monthly Dengeki Maoh magazine on April 27.
The game's story begins when vampires attack a young man, controlled by the player, while he is visiting Akiba. A girl named Rui rescues him and recruits him to join a group of vampire hunters. He fights against vampires by attacking them with various weapons and removing their clothes so that sunlight destroys them.
The Ben-To light novel author Asaura collaborated on the scenario for Akiba's Trip, and tanu (Tari Tari) provided character designs. The official Akiba's Trip website is currently streaming several promotional videos for the original game.
