Have they said if Daisuki will be available in Canada?

It is definitely good news that Daisuki will not take away series from places like Crunchyroll and Funimation. Personally, if Daisuki's service can be good as Crunchyroll (in video quality and pricing), I would not mind making Daisuki my to go place for streaming anime.
If it were up to me, I would like for CR, FUNi and TAN to keep streaming the same number of anime series. Daisuki could be the more exclusive service with streams available minutes after airing in Japan. CR, FUNi and TAN could stream the series three to seven days later. I could also see Daisuki only allowing the U.S. based services to keep the streams only while the series are airing. Only Daisuki will be able to keep/store the series for several years. I hope this last idea makes sense.
We will have two wait and see if Daisuki will be a viable service. Regardless, I hope we can get most series simulcasted in HD and at good pricing.

I like the idea of a single service that aggregates Crunchy, Funi and Viz, but they'd have to get all the content from those sites to make it worthwhile -- there's no point to paying them if I still have to go to Funimation, say, to watch PsychoPass.
And since this is supposed to be an international service, how will they deal with Funimation titles being limited to North America?

Glad to know they aren't trying to gib licenses away from other companies! That was my biggest concern. At this point I don't see people switching from Crunchyroll with the fanbase as installed as is and constantly growing. For people who exclusively stream and want anime, I see them having both Crunchyroll and DAISUKI.
For people who live in regions that DON'T have any of the big services but want to support the industry I can see them going to DAISUKI. Since it's the Japanese companies hosting the services/rights they won't have to worry about licensing issues
Sounds interesting but execution is the most important thing. The player/subtitles/quality have to be what potential customers find on par these days with other services or they won't bother with premium

By holding the worldwide rights from the beginning. Daisuki will be aggregating a number of titles that happen to currently be available on different services, but they aren't sublicensing them.

So, basically, this just collects already available streaming series for people too lazy to visit multiple sites? No new licenses or original content? Lame.

Give some love to the Wii U!
Anyway, Japan seems to be jumping all over this streaming stuff. I suppose this is a bit different from the one initiative a while back, but it seems that they want a larger part of the pie now.

So you aren’t going to pull licenses, but are you going to continue to grant new licenses to any site besides Daisuki?

As long as they will make the previously region-blocked shows available worldwide, then I have no problems with this whatsoever.
Seriously, so much stuff is locked out for UK viewers.
Also, as this is a Japanese company, maybe the Wii U will get some love with an app?

Sony's Japanese too, and Microsoft Japan seems to be open to stuff like this (if their mascots and stuff are any indication). But it'll probably just be like almost anything else: go where the audience is, especially if you're looking to make a hit with the least loss in money. If anything, the Wii U will be the last platform supported. I get what you mean though. That they're (hopefully) more likely to support the Wii U than anyone else. On another note, throw in Windows Phone support!
Nevertheless, I really wish the Wii U gets support sooner than later from all the current and future streaming initiatives. At least it has Hulu, Netflix, and YouTube I guess. If only everything went HTML5...

If nearly everything is available thru one single site, Daisuki in this case, it will eventually have a negative impact on Crunchyroll, Funimation, TAN, and the others.
It's more competition in a relatively small worldwide market that already has a number of competitors. Moreover, it's competition that has direct ties to many of the major producers of content for that market.
It's the sort of thing that in the United States sometimes causes Monopoly alarms to go off.
Sorry, I can't see this as a blessing.

This was my first thought also. They said they wont pull licenses, but they didn't mention anything about new shows. While I would hope this wouldn't happen, I could see it trying to become a reality, at least with streaming rights.
If it just happened with streaming rights and not home video release, I dont see it affecting me all that much. But I would feel bad for the US companies that have been trying to put this stuff out. Honestly, I have more loyalty from them putting out anime for me to view whereas the Japanese side, from the view of many people in the industry have stated, view the US market as a very far afterthought.

If this means that their still going to be willing to sublicense simulcasts to the R1 companies then I can totally get behind this. At the very least it would solve some of the issues people(myself included) have with Funimation and Viz's streaming services and those streams wouldn't have to be NA exclusive which would make a lot of people happy.
Of course if they aren't willing to share simulcasts then this could spell disaster for R1. Thankfully it sounds like they are but we'll see...

And when those licenses come up for renewal, will you just not bother?

Depends on whether they stream anything themselves, adding more competition to the field, or just aggregate streams from existing companies, in which case CR and Funi will be getting a piece of the action and the Japanese companies in on the deal will have an increased interest in selling streaming rights.
The tone of the article, with it's talk of aggregation and cooperation points to the latter. Not to mention that CR has already announced OreImo from Aniplex.
