Atomcat is sooo adorable. I might donate, but my city's anime convention is this month so I want to save some money for that.

Deffinantly looking forward to getting this in my mail come March. Also the Kickstarter is already past 23K and with 24 days left I'm going to be ballzy and say yeah, they'll defiantly get to 26K to add Atomcat to the print schedule. Still though I have to wonder what their next Title will be after the reach 26K, I can't think of many other kids/all-ages Tezuka stuff aside from Kimba/Jungle Emperor Leo (but i'm pretty sure that would be its own individual kickstarter) or maybe Blue Triton.

But yeah glad Unico was successful, and glad it looks like Atomcat will most likely pass as well. Heres hoping the next title they go after is something fun & suprising .

Looking it over, and I notice all tiers have only e-manga/.pdf's. Where is the dead tree versions?

If I support it, I want a tangible edition of it on my bookshelves!!

We want to publish Unico in a single volume in full color.

Printing manga in color is shockingly expensive, but if we can hit our target, we'll be able to do it,

I'm assuming it's a dead tree version, I certainly wouldn't throw down $35 for a digital copy of anything, even Lawrence of Arabia on Ultra High Definition.

The $35 pledge includes the book:

The $5 reward plus a full-color copy of "Unico" by Osamu Tezuka!

and most of the others above that level include it

I'm startig to wonder why more manga puplshers aren't Kickstarting their own dream licenses. Vertical,Inc recently had a pole on their Facebook page asking readers to choose from a variety of titles they were considering such as Jellyfish Princess, Vinland Saga and Moyashimon (etc). If the Japanese license holders allowed them access to those titles based on the results of a Kickstarter campaign, what are the chances they could publish all three, and then some?

Of course, it could be that Tezuka Productions allows Kickstarter campaigns and other publishers do not...

In any case I'm glad DMP reached their goal for Unico. It looks adorable!

I'm curious how a "stretch" goal works.

What if after reaching the first goal, the 2nd "stretch" goal was not reached. What happens to the extra money that was pledged for the stretch goal that will not be produced? Do the donators get that part of their donations back, with only the portion for the first reached goal kept by the recipient donatee?

What happens when a project that only needed 60k gets 350k? Do they just pocket it?
