Since I'm a music geek in addition to being an anime fan, this was an awesome list for me this week. Smile

Admittedly, I'm only familiar with the following from the list" "The One" by The Backstreet Boys, "Fly Me to the Moon" (I just recently finished watching the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series), and Daft Punk's Discovery album.

I hadn't been aware of the BSB song being used as an opening song for an anime, so that was a neat little fact to learn.

Your list also explained the different versions of "Fly Me to the Moon" at the end of NGE. I'll just say that while some of the renditions that appeared were decent, some of them just didn't sound very good.

Daft Punk's Discovery album is awesome, and I really like Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. This was a great choice for number one. Smile

The scene in Monster with Somewhere Over the Rainbow is pretty soul-destroying. And even if you were only after OPs and EDs, David Sylvian's For the Love of Life is terrifying!

Otherwise, great list!

Serial Experiments Lain used I-think-British band BOA's (not to be confused with K-pop band BoA) song "Duvet".

"The light before we land" introduced me to The Delgados, and sent me off on a search for as many of their albums as I could find.

Great article. I've never seen Gunslinger Girls, but I love the Delgados. Definitely going to check it out.

I think that Legend of the Galactic Heroes had the best use of Western Music. All the music is Classical, with orchestral, symphonic, and some vocal in there as well.

Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai!! is last under chibi devil with 0%?! Don't get me wrong, the series looks far from a masterpiece, but not that bad. Seems like the kind of thing I would watch between more serious stuff just to relax.

Daft Punk with Interstella seemed interesting, but I still don't think I would see the movie.

How did Paradise Kiss not make this list? FRANZ FERDINAND did the ED to that show if I remember correctly.

Noticed an mistake in the article. Daft Punk is a duo, not a trio.

Anyway i'm surprise Franz Ferdinand isn't in this list.

According to the Surveys page, it was posted back on the 8th. I don't know if it was a hiccup or if the surveys in general aren't coordinated with the Gia's List feature.

bôa is indeed a British indie band, which still exists today, though their latest album is from 2005. Their name is stylized as bôa, though it can also be found stylized as BOA.

"The Light Before We Land" is what caused me to buy The Delgados' album "Hate". Smile

Yeah, I noticed that, too. Daft Punk is a duo. Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo.

I was surprised to not find Oasis' "Falling Down", used as OP in Eden of the East, on this list.

Probably because Funimation could only use the song for Episode 1; the rest of the series used a generic J-Pop opening. All the other anime used the Western songs with every episode.

Wow, was I the only yaoi fangirl to not vote for Sekai-ichi 2? Anime hyper
(I choose Hunter X Hunter)

Yes. definitely one of my favorites.

There's also the East of Eden opening by Oasis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tgs5krn8og8
and the Japanese Speed Grapher opening by Duran Duran http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2_nz2K2S4A&feature=related

I think you mean western styled music though, since they are still Japanese composers
