Bandai Entertainment will continue to distribute the anime.

Should probably add that Sentai has "retired" it and won't be releasing it after all. The way the article is written it looks like both are still doing separate releases despite the error.

Lol, so it was just a clerical error. It would have been interesting to see if Sentai's release would actually sell (I'd guess no).

Sentai Filmworks is removing the title from its catalog.

I would think this sentence would indicate SF won't be selling it.

That's a pretty massive "clerical error" for everybody involved.

My question is how it actually got this far.

Wouldn't when Sentai was putting up the money someone would have gone "wait a minute doesn't Bandai have this license?" and never have let it get to the point of a announcement from Sentai?

I'm just confused as to how a clerical error can go that far.

It's probably better for Sentai to not have it. I hope Shigofumi isn't a clerical error though. Smile

This release made no sense from SF anyway. Hopefully they'll get something else for their August solicitations.

I'm assuming Sentai acquires all of its titles through "clerical errors". Or is "clerical error" an obscure industry term for negotiations between licensor and licensee? Seriously though, this is the best excuse for this SNAFU they could come up with? Quite amusing.

Bandai won that arguement.

That is a big clerical error. You'd think Sentai would have said "Are you sure Bandai Ent doesn't have this?".

I'm waiting to see if there is a Shigufumi "clerical error" also.

Looks like another case of FFS (Fat Finger Syndrome) has struck again. At least it didn't bring down the economy this time.

Well, despite the Anime Legends release right on ANN's sola page, it does still specify that Bandai Visual USA holds the license. Not saying that they used ANN as a reference for what is and isn't licensed, but it could confuse anyone...

Bandai Visual = Idiots!

Sentai Filmworks = Bigger idiots!

Even if BEI didn't have Sola anymore, nobody was gonna buy the higher-priced re-release.

Except that BV USA was folded into Bandai Ent in a very public manner. It shouldn't have confused anyone.

This is a fairly substantial error and I still wonder how this problem went this far without really any intervention.

Everyone makes mistakes, but something this large could have become an even larger issue if this was unchecked for a while longer. I am just wondering how this even happened in the first place.

I mean, isn't this type of news fairly common among the anime industry? Well none the less, this doesn't change my option of either company, good or bad.
