This was a great anime to watch in sub but I am not sure how it will translate into dub. A major theme in the movie was the language barriar between english and japanese. Not sure how they will pull that one off effectively. I also hope they don't attempt to translate the songs used in the anime, the songs are perfectly fine in their original format but then again good luck explaining how the bands would speak english and perform in japanese (excluding the few english songs they did).

It's already been airing in Canada for a bit. Regarding the language barrier, the dialogue is all there, but completely delivered in English Neutral The songs may/may not be dubbed, I couldn't get past the first two episodes of the Canadian airing to figure it out

YES! FUNIMATION! But like m00nshare posted, I'm wondering how it would turn out, with the Japanese/English dialogues.

(Btw, BECK just premiered here in the Philippines. The production staff hired popular band vocalists to do the dubbing, which is also a way of promoting the series. In fact, a BECK mall tour was held, in which the band vocalists/dubbers visited different malls and performed songs from the anime.)

Taliesen Jaffe, the other ADR director of the series, has posted a Youtube dub clip in his livejournal of the song "Follow Me" sung by Greg Ayers and Brina Palencia. Man, I'm like a sucker towards dubbed songs, and this is no different (c'mon, isn't it just COOL to hear your favorite VAs sing; why should the Japanese seiyuu have all the fun). Razz

Follow Me is one of my favorite songs from the series, and they did a fine job with the song. I also liked the correcting of the the Beat Crusaders' original Engrish lyrics. ("Girl, I believe in you" instead of "I got believe in you".)

I hear that "Face" aired a couple weeks ago or so in Canada, and apparently they did a fine job with that one as well.

BECK is FUNimation's most highly anticipated series this summer IMO, with One Piece waiting in the wings. I'm very happy to see FUNi *finally* getting the word out on this fine show.

This is another highlight for me at Anime Expo! I really am curious how the dub will stack up to the Japanese counterpart. I sawn the dub clip and they have potential to make it awesome, but all will tell when I see it for myself.

I am really looking forward to this. I already preordered it. Very Happy

Concerning the dub.. I've checked out all the dubbed episodes released in Canada and wow, they did a great job. All the voices are great and fit the characters well. The dubbed over songs aren't bad either.

Chiba's vocals are a bit rougher than the Japanese version, but overall works well. However, Koyuki's vocals are a bit.. Confused They aren't bad, but in comparison to the Japanese vocals they just don't feel as good. In the Japanese version when all the characters go "Wow, he has a great voice" you can hear what they are talking about, but for the English version I just don't hear the "wow" effect. He sounds more ordinary than anything else. I bought the 2 albums from the Japanese version and I enjoy listening to them, but I doubt I will enjoy the English songs as much. If I wasn't a fan of the Japanese version then I probably would like the English songs more.

Even with that though, I still am totally enthralled by the dub. They really did a great job. BECK has to be one of the more difficult series to dub and Funimation completely owned the dub. At the very least Funimation always does a great job with their subtitles, so that is definitely one bonus to look forward too. I hope the DVDs sell well for them.

i like the singing better in the dub, at least they got rid of all the atrocious engrish. i still wish they would have kept the diversity of the original though.

Man, I thought this series would have been out a long time ago. But it's a good thing it was considered to be released here. Well, better late than never.
