The thread on amnesia (I think of it as anime overload) got me thinking of the opposite effect. Do you ever find yourself remembering some anime scene from way back for no particular reason? You're at work or driving or somewhere else and it suddenly pops into your mind almost as if you just saw it.
It happens to me several times a month now. The last one was from Serial Experiments Lain, which I last watched maybe 4 years ago. The scene is where Lain walks past her two parents sitting side-by-side at the dining table, doing nothing. They might as well be mannequins sitting there. She goes and gets something to drink from the refrigerator and, uncharacteristically for her, tries to start a chatty conversation with them. Soundlessly and wordlessly the parents turn around to just stare at her. The motion is off camera and the scene ends that way. It is a genuinely creepy moment, spoiler[particularly since at this point you have no idea what Lain is or that her parents are not her parents and what they know about her]. I suspect this happens to others and I'd like to hear about it, as long as it isn't just a recap the climax (or one of them) of the story. The climax of course tries to be memorable -- what I am interested in is what gets remembered for no apparent reason. |

I know what your talking about when I was working Monday for no reason I started thinking about the whole Majin Buu saga from DBZ.

Oh I get heaps of those almost every day.
My favourite was while I was on the bus heading home and 4rm nowhere the scene where Yagami Light from Death Note is having a monologue about continuing his judgement with his right hand and eating a chip with his left. Which I still think is hilarious. Theres also the Scene in Evangelion where Shinji and Misato are at the train station, well its more of a still shot than a scene but I always seem to remember that. Theres also Ayu 'Osaka' scene from Azumanga Daioh. The scene where she is aparently 'looking for bubbles in the corner of her eyes'? LoL I always fail to contain myself whenever that pops into my head. Theres a lot more but I dont wana hog so I will stop here for now. |

LOL - after you wrote this I realized that I think about that a lot. I also have the near kiss scene in Kimi ni Todoke constantly running in the background. ![]() |

The crows in Naruto saying "Aho", which means idiot in idiot, in Japanime.
How do I put it? Beyond my imagination; the irritation. I can't stand that, it's almost as if my own brain is trying to annoy me. And what did it have to memorize? That scene from Naruto. Argh. Also, Kobato saying "sugoi". I even practised it at work. With the most effeminate voice I could reproduce, which probably sounds really awful to others, but very cute to me. Vash's "Love and Peace". My god, just thinking about that makes me want to do it! Love and peace!! With me now! Love and Peace! I'm thinking about some more... actually, there are too many of them, so I'll try to filter the interesting ones later. |

This doesn't really happen to me too much. The closest thing I can think of is an image from Moon Phase that has really stuck with me. It happened in the first episode, I believe. It's when Hazuki and Kohei meet for the first time. Hazuki is perched on the mantle of a fireplace and she jumps off and kind of ... floats ... down to Kohei at a 45 degree angle to the floor. I'm not sure about this, but I think I saw that in a trailer and based on that one image alone I decided to buy the series. Thank God I ended up liking the whole thing!

One anime moment that comes to me all of a suden at times is a scene from episode 10 of Kanon 2006 of when spoiler[Makoto is clos to dieing and Yuuichi keeps getting her to ring the bell.] This means that all of a suden I almost start crying and have to hold it to not look strange.
Another one that pops in sometimes is I remember the part in second season of Hayate no Gotoku, when it was revealed they were being led on as an April fools joke. I really enjoyed the whole deadpan of the scene and in those circumstances I have to hide a grin that I get stop laughter. EDIT: I just remembered another, it is from Kodomo no Jikan, about when the normaly mean teacher conterplates what it would have been like if someone had stood up for when she was being bullied in highschool and become her friend. I think it was a generally sweet scene, and I usually feel such an emotion when I sudenly remember it. |
