Hi all. First of I'm sorry if this has been covered before - I tried to searchg first but couldn't see anything.
I recently bought all ten current volumes of Neon Genesis Evangelion via Amazon.co.uk. I was aware that this series had been around a while, and some of the earlier books had been re-released with different covers (and flipping). What I didn't realise is that some of the earliest printings which I had picked up were actually a different size from the standard tankobon. I'd like to buy my wife some of the Oh! My Goddess books, but as another series that's been around a while and seen a couple of re-printings, is there a way for me to be able to make sure all of them will be the same size when ordering online? |

I don't know if this is the same across the board with online bookselling, however Amazon gives the production dimensions on a page for a book.
To use your example:http://www.amazon.com/Oh-My-Goddess/dp/1593073879/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1213105295&sr=8-3
The date of publication should also give you a clue, since the later editions will obviously have later dates attached to them. |

The new Ah My Goddess books are smaller than the first editions. In addition, I think there are some issues with what chapters are covered in which volumes. I believe the first editions rearranged chapters. In some cases, they simply put more chapters in a particular volume to cover an entire story arc but I think they rearranged the order of some chapters as well.
So if you are getting a mix of first and second editions, you may get doubles of some chapters and miss some others. |

They easiest way would be to go to the list of Oh My Goddess releases on the Dark Horse website and look up the ISBNs for the new volumes 1-10 and 21-30 that were published after June 2005. The ISBNs are unique, you won't get an older edition that way. Volumes 11-20 are not yet re-released, so you'll have to wait until they are or get the older editions (which have the problems with different chapters being in different volumes that were mentioned here before). ~Althalus |

Thanks very much for the help everyone - between the ISBN numbers and Amazon's size guide I should be able to identify the current versions even on non-amazon sites, and I know which editions I'll need to wait to be re-printed.
