Not the bootleg from HK
The one Toshiba released.
Has anyone seen it?
I read a few reviews, scoured the internet and finally tracked it down at HMV Japan. Apparently the thing is out of print but supposedly has English subs, Japanese and English audio, extra episodes, art book, etc etc
Can anyone vouch for it pro or con?
I really loved the Giant Robo series. It was done with such love and care...

Or even better, don't! Let me buy it!
It's genuine, the Japanese special edition release!
I wanted it so much that I once had dream where I stole it from a shop.

Errr well go to HMV Japan. I did some searching on yahoo.co.jp and found my way there. You have to be able to spell everything in Japanese for it to show up though.
They even claim to have them in stock. I received a shipping notice about 1/2 hour ago.
You're welcome to try and place an order.
Failing that, there's a DVD shop in Nakano Broadway that has 2 copies in stock as well. A friend of mine found them this morning. They're on the third floor down the aisle from the Mandarake Manga shops.
Oh wait, you're in Denmark.
I guess this doesn't help you much

I did go to HMV Japan, or at least the english language version of the site, and the only giant robo I could find was on VHS.

You can find the official US LD release of the first four on Ebay from time to time. I think I won eps 3 and 4 for about $6 each. Much better than the VHS and bilingual.

No subs?!?
But I hate dubs... I guess there is no avoiding it, I will have to wait until it is released in the US. Then maybe we will get the Gin Rei specials as well.

Yeah sorry.
A review I read claimed it had subtitles but they're simply not present.
Luckily I understand enough Japanese (well and practically know the story by heart) so it doesn't effect me.
