Quote: | The game is set in Goryōkan Academy, a new private senior/junior high school for girls with a vast downtown campus. This highly popular school has "another face" — a secret hidden side. It organizes and trains the special unit Fifth Force to protect the world from invisible supernatural entities known as "Oburi" that are devouring the world. A team of five trained with powers against the Oburi is to be chosen from the student body to perform missions. A new team leader has been appointed to assemble the five students. |
Whoa, let me get this straight: an anime about a high school that trains its students to fight _________ threat in small, specialized teams! Where does anime come up with these super fresh, totally non-derivative ideas??? This one might actually be TOO original for my tastes.

I like the character designs and the staff looks good, but it is much too early to form an opinion about the show, especially since I have never seen the game.
Unfortunately if I ever get to see the show it will not be for a long time, but it looks interesting enough that I will watch for news about it.

I don't know, but it should be.

Agreed! That at least would be a new wrinkle. I know there's a certain character in Brave Witches who wishes yuri harem was a thing...

Very, VERY rare. Ange Vierge is the most recent and I like Saya x Alma. I got panicked over the quoted line in my post because this could wind up as another harem anime with a male protagonist. Fortunately, it is too early to judge this so I will wait and see. I hope it will not pull off a Cross Ange move when it debuts.

Ah, how could I have forgotten about Ange Vierge? I'm not sure I would go so far as to categorize it as a harem simply because the hub of the harem was basically frozen for a good chunk of the show. But yeah, I guess the term would apply.

Technically, Saya and Amane are co-harem leads. Amane had her moments with every girl before she got crystallized and Saya took over her harem. Of course, there are lots of teasing between them as well. I wish they had another episode or an OVA to resolve that.

It's funny that I never thought of yuri harem before this thread and I'm surprised it is so rare. You'd think otaku would be all over that kind of thing. If I was a Japanese producer, the first thing I'd say on Monday morning is, "bring me a yuri harem show because I want to make money!"

You do know that there is a popular belief that yuri never sells, right? Right now, het harems and yaoi are very big hits in Japan whereas yuri is left in the dust. Most of Japan are not embracing the Girls Love genre and do not appreciate yuri at all. We do get some yuri every season in many ways but plenty of them are just subtext (Love Live and CGDCT anime), fanservice (Keijo and ecchi harem anime), and bait (Hibike Euphonium). With two of most popular yuri manga (Citrus and NTR Trap) getting adaptations next year, maybe all that can change.

Yeah, I have heard that and I think it's a shame. I really liked Sasameki Koto and Aoi Hana, I'd love to see more shows like that. Clearly, Japanese dudes are not into lezzie stuff the way we NA horndogs are.
